WonderOfCreation.org is a new service of RBC Ministries, the producer of the devotional booklet “Our Daily Bread.” Your host is Dean Ohlman, who’s been working with us at RBC for over a dozen years. You can read more about him by clicking the “author” tab.

I also want to express my personal enthusiasm for this Wonder of Creation site. Over the years I’ve seen first hand Dean’s lifelong love of the outdoors and his thoughtful approach to “trees, plants, and bugs” that are often taken for granted by the rest of us. Some of these even end up in the building-dead or alive!

My hope is that this site will motivate a lot of us to “get out into the field” with Dean. Even more important, however, I hope that reflecting on the natural world with him will inspire all of us to increase our interest in and experience with the wonders of our Creator’s handiwork.

I’ve often thought about how the Lord of Creation used the natural world to help a troubled man survive a crisis of faith. After God asked a man named Job to take another look at the “miracles” of the natural fields, woods, and waters, it’s as if lights went off in Job’s head. After the Creator reminded Job of the wonders of the natural world that could only come from His hand, Job declared, “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You” (Job 42:5). Seems that Job was able to conclude that if God had the power and wisdom to create and maintain the natural world, there is reason to trust what He is doing in and through our own lives.

Hope you come back often to the Wonder of Creation-then get back outdoors!
