Dean is currently in the Pacific Northwest and is making an informal study of the great trees of that region. Today’s “Ambling” post is on the big-leaf maple, one of the world’s great trees for furniture—and, as Genesis said about the trees of the Garden, “pleasing to the eye.”

Dean, that leaf looks like it is made up of 3 smaller maple leaves. What an incredible leaf (and tree) that must be.

If Adam and Eve had used these, they could have made an entire wardrobe from them!! (:>)

You got that right, Bob! But fig leaves can be big too—maybe even bigger in Eden! I remember eating off leaf plates in India over 20 years ago. They were made by stitching them together with small slivers of bamboo and then pressed to dry flat. You got them in bundles and they served like paper plates here. So they were totally enviromentally friendly, to say the least. And you ate with your fingers—so there were no utensils to wash either.
