Calvin and Luther, two of my favorite heroes. Luther for his bringing the church back to the Bible, and to justification by faith only. Calvin for his logical God centered theology of sovereignty to the "inth" degree. It is too bad (my opinion, of course) that the two could never quite get together and pool their brilliance. When it came to their differences centered around the Lord's supper, Luther could not budge. He was adamant about "hoc est enim corpus meum" (Latin for This is my body) that Christs body and blood were really present during the sacrament (a view still held by confessional Lutherans today: my hat is off to you Lutherans, by the way).

Just think, if these two stalwarts of the faith could have joined forces what a force the church could have been.

I guess if Paul and Barnabas could have agreed completely about John Mark.....but thats another story.

Bottom line, if Christians could come together over care of creation, what a force we could be that even Al Gore would have to take notice!

Something to think about.
