In the lull between Wonder of Creation’s old look and new look (coming shortly), I’m taking a few vacation days to visit with my brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Bev Ohlman, at their place on Orcas Island. Orcas is one of the San Juan Islands that lie north of the Puget Sound in Washington State. They have named their spot on the northeast flank of Mt. Constitution “Bluebell Springs”—an apt name since bluebell
flowers flourish on the moist soil that surrounds them. The stream that flows through their property endowed the rocks and trees with a mossy coat over the years on its way down the mountainside until it cascades into a wonderful little pool on their stony beach.
You can know that I will be spending a good deal of my time in the mossy woods and on the driftwood strewn beach. My soul is desperately in need of solitude and na
tural quietness. But I will have my camera with me and hope to share with you some of the wonder of God’s creation that Jim and Bev have preserved in this special spot.
See you outdoors!
